The City Observatory has landed…

In 2013, Glasgow became the UK’s ‘Future City Demonstrator’, winning £24million from the government to use new technologies to become a better city. In terms of conducting research into how to make cities better in the future, Glasgow is a great place to use as a ‘living lab’, for looking at urban problems and testing possible solutions.

As part of the wider Future City Demonstrator project, Strathclyde University received funding to create the City Observatory, a project to use global cities as labs where we can collaborate to develop new understanding of cities, test new approaches to solving urban problems and accelerate innovation.

The City Observatory has now launched, as a physical space at the University’s TIC building and as a virtual tool for data analysis and visualisation. We will be running a wide range of events, activities and projects in the space; sign up to our newsletter or follow us on twitter to be kept informed!
